Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship
ShiftKey Sandbox incorporates all of our skills development, career development, and networking-related events. From hackathons to workshops, and from Tech Talks to networking events, the Sandbox offers a low-threshold and low-stakes environment to experiment and play in the world of tech innovation. Sandbox events are available to post-secondary students across the province.
Industry Training and Networking
ShiftKey Academy is an applied learning program focused on technical skills essential to the job market. Academy programs facilitate students to learn in-demand skills and gain key qualifications and certifications outside the classroom setting. Academy programming is more in-depth and intensive than Sandbox programming. Academy programs are only available to Computer Science students at Dalhousie University.

At ShiftKey Labs, we understand the challenges students face in balancing academic commitments with the need for meaningful employment. ShiftKey Works is more than just a part-time job portal – it’s a gateway to valuable experience in your chosen field, an opportunity to build applied skills, and a platform to forge key connections in Nova Scotia’s vibrant tech ecosystem.
Start-up, Leadership and MVP Development
ShiftKey Build aims to give students the opportunity to experiment with the world of tech startups. Everyone has ideas, but only a few take those ideas all the way. ShiftKey Labs will help you shape your idea into something real, and can help connect you to full-scale incubators and accelerators in the province when you are ready. Build programs are available to post-secondary students across the province.
