Shiftkey GenAI Hackathon

Welcome to ShiftKey Labs’ Generative AI Hackathon, where innovation meets technology in collaboration with Dal CSS and Dal WiTS!

Calling on all students across Nova Scotia to unleash their creativity and coding prowess! Dive into the world of Generative AI and channel your ideas towards addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Join us for a weekend of learning, collaboration, and problem-solving as we strive to make a positive impact on our world.

In this hackathon, participants have the freedom to select their preferred category—whether it’s hands-on development and coding of a tool or crafting an idea alongside a compelling business model to showcase the potential of their technology.

Happening on the 20th and the 21st of January, at the Goldberg Computer Science Building, Halifax. There will be amazing food, exciting prizes and lot of entertainment opportunities for all participants.

This event is suitable for all skill-levels, and participants will have access to introductory workshops to help you prepare.

Ocean of Data Challenge: Seafood and You

Join the Ocean of Data Challenge by COVE and DeepSense for some creative collaboration and idea generation! This free event will kick off on Monday, February 5th at 6pm ADT with an introduction to the Challenge, presentations from experts, and the chance to ask questions to help idea exploration. Participants present their submissions and winners are announced on a live Zoom meeting on Tuesday, February 20th at 6pm ADT.

This Data Challenge will invite participants to consider the role of the seafood industry in Canada. Answer the ultimate question: How does the seafood industry impact Canadians? We are inviting students at post-secondary institutions across Atlantic Canada to use fisheries, aquaculture, and trade data to examine how we can illuminate the significant role of the seafood industry in our day to day lives through this Challenge.

MRI & Neural Data Hackathon

Dive into the world of cutting-edge brain imaging technology and neural data analysis with the MRI & Neural Data Hackathon! Unleash your creativity, collaborate with fellow innovators, and push boundaries while working with experts and researchers from Dal’s Department of Psychiatry & Department of Psychology and Neuroscience.

This event is hosted by Pulse, Shiftkey, and SURGE on Dal’s upper campus from February 2nd-4th. Further details will be emailed after registration.

Students from any program are welcome, but spaces available are limited.

GGJ NEXT® is an annual event operated by the Global Game Jam® organization to serve younger people (12-17 years old) who are interested in learning the creation of video games.

Take part in the biggest Game Design challenge for youth of the year! Join thousands of students worldwide who all have one goal: make a really cool game!

The Global Game Jam NEXT is part of global initiative to encourage youth to stretch their creative muscles in the world of game design.  In Nova Scotia, ShiftKey Labs and HCI4Good will be partnering with SuperNOVA and Ignite Atlantic to host Game Jam NEXT sites in three locations across the province, so you can find the one near you!
