Communications Assistant at ShiftKey Labs
ShiftKey Labs is seeking a motivated and talented student for the role of Communications Assistant. This part time position provides an excellent opportunity for a proactive student who is interested in computer science and technology to gain hands-on experience in communications, content creation, social media management, and website administration. The Communications Assistant would report directly to the ShiftKey Manager and work closely with the ShiftKey Ambassadors and other partners.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communication strategies to promote ShiftKey events and initiatives
- Create content for social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook) and the website to engage a growing community
- Monitor email and social media, responding to general inquiries
- Maintain and update the ShiftKey Labs website
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the design of ShiftKey programming
- Attend certain ShiftKey events, take images, and post “live”
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at a recognized educational institution in Nova Scotia
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Proven interest in computer science, technology and innovation
- Experience managing numerous social media platforms
- Proficiency in graphic design tools, such as Canva, is an asset
- Familiarity with WordPress is an asset
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team
The successful candidate will be hired as a part-time casual employee through Dalhousie University, reporting to the Manager of ShiftKey Labs. Hours will vary throughout the academic year, with an expected average of 8 hours per week. The hourly wage is $16.00 per hour.
The candidate should be able to start by August 1st, 2023 at the latest. The position is until April 31, 2024.
