React JS workshop series for beginners

Thursday, July 19th, 2018 @ 6:30 pm8:30 pm

UPDATE: Last Meetup we discussed basic Javascript coding techniques and a comparison of React with other frameworks. In this Meetup, we plan on creating a simple React app and add CRUD operations to it. We will cover props, const, component, classes and form validation.

Attend this Halifax JavaScript + Emerging Web Technologies Meetup hosted by ShiftKey Labs to delve deeper into JavaScript, more specifically React.js.

Content will be tailored to a beginner level audience on React.js with some experience in JavaScript programming.

React is an UI library developed at Facebook to facilitate the creation of interactive, stateful and reusable UI components. It is used at Facebook in production, and Instagram.com is written entirely in React.

One of its unique selling points is that not only does it perform on the client side, but it can also be rendered server side, and they can work together inter-operably.

It also uses a concept called the Virtual DOM that selectively renders subtrees of nodes based upon state changes. It does the least amount of DOM manipulation possible in order to keep your components up to date.
