About StuGig

StuGig is a web based platform connecting students with “gigs” relevant to their skill sets. The platform enables students to showcase their portfolios, resumes and skills. Alternatively, we provide small businesses, local hiring managers and other students an easy, intuitive way to access the skill sets required to complete the respective task. StuGig is currently focusing on the ICT sector. We enable those looking for digital skills to access the talent they require in a timely and affordable manner. With plans to evolve into a complete market place of student skill sets, StuGig will become the largest marketplace for student skill sets.

Founder Bios

A third year Business Management student at Dalhousie University, Ben Bright, demonstrates a strong passion for creativity and innovation. His latest innovation named StuGig was conceived and born out of the need to address his lack of technical knowledge. During his time volunteering at Shiftkey Labs under the supervision of Grant Wells, Ben was faced with an overwhelming number of technology based ideas presented by students. A large majority of these ambitious students encountered the similar challenge to Ben, namely, the inability to efficiently find local technical expertise. At that point Ben decided to create the first market place for student skill sets. The platform in its current format focuses on bridging the gap between people looking for ICT skills, and the competent skills available to work.
Outside of work Ben has a passion for cars and sports and is a voracious sushi eater. With his brain in constant motion, Ben  aspires to inspire people of all ages to reach their maximum potential and thus find happiness in their own lives.

Vijay Kumar, Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer of StuGig leads all aspects of the company’s technological development. Vijay controls the company’s technical direction, development and future technology needs. He conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies to determine the probability of implementation. His passion for programming and interest in new technologies enabled him to create his masterpiece “StuGig”.

Vijay developed StuGig’s web platform in 2016, with more than 5 years of IT industry leadership experience, software development and internetworking expertise. Vijay is also an Instructor at Dalhousie University in the Faculty of Engineering Math and Internetworking. Vijay holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Master of Engineering in Internetworking from Dalhousie University.

Divya Dola, our Lead Programmer, helps guide StuGig’s strategic decisions in all technical avenues. She plays a crucial role assessing market trends and determining how they affect StuGig’s approach to projects. She holds a Bachelor in Information Technology and a Master in Applied Computer Science from Dalhousie University. Her main focus is in user interfaces & design. Previously, Divya worked for Chegg Inc. India, as a subject matter expert-CS. She constantly experiments with new technologies, is self-driven and motivated.
